He Who Would Valiant Be

"He Who Would Valiant Be" is a timeless work, both its libretto and music. This arrangement takes a middle ground between the ponderous and frenetic arrangements available. It’s classical but with movement. Also known as "To Be a Pilgrim", the words were written in 1684 by John Bunyan in part two of his book "Pilgrim’s Progress". The music is an English folk melody called “Monk’s Gate”. For S.A.T.B Choir "Now I See" is an intriguing treatment of Amazing Grace in 5/4 time. Tight harmonies, alternate rhythms, different voices singing the melody and a bright key change make this arrangement shine. And, because it is a jazz piece, it also has guitar chords for a somewhat advanced guitarist. Psalm 23 - Timeless

Psalm 23 – Timeless is a setting of the well-known Psalm using the Mixolydian Mode, which gives it the sound of an Irish folk song. Besides a piano part, it has chords for a stringed instrument such as guitar or mandolin. If you really want to add some flavor to it, the top line of the piano part could be played by a recorder, penny whistle, etc. whenever there is no one singing. It is short, but it reflects the length and simplicity of King David’s song.
