Fairest in All the Land
True Stroy of Love's Great Sacrifice

Fairest in All the Land is the true story about my paternal grandmother, whose name was Ellen Faloon McCartney Daniels. born on Oct. 22, 1894 near Belfast, Ireland. There are two characters in this story. One was Ellie. The other was a man named Bobby, whose last name we will never know. Bobby gave Ellen a gift that probably would not even be considered today. He declared his love for her, but declined to marry her so that when he passed away, she would be free to marry and raise a family, instead of being a widow with relatively few opportunities for marriage since, in those days, a widow was considered “used goods”. We can be sure of one thing, Bobby lived out the Bible verse that says, "The greatest love a man can have for his friends is to give his life for them." (John 15:13)
